Dusty and Bonnie Henson’s journey began on the iconic Route 66, where they started by selling turquoise jewelry and Mexican saddleblankets from the back of their pickup truck. Their entrepreneurial spirit and keen eye for quality led them to meet a man who owned several trading posts in New Mexico. This pivotal encounter led to a request: could they manufacture Southwest-style rugs? Dusty confidently took on the challenge, producing high-quality rugs in Mexico, and sales took off.

The success of their rugs marked the beginning of the Hensons’ import-export business in El Paso, Texas. Over the next 50 years, Dusty and Bonnie traveled the world, trading, buying, manufacturing, wholesaling, and designing the finest selection of Southwest products available anywhere. Their dedication and passion have built the El Paso Saddleblanket Company into what it is today: the World’s Largest Southwest Trading Post.
